Clement King Family: James King of Gloucester, R.I. He was admitted freeman in Providence on 3rd Tuesday in Feb 1723/4. His will is dated 15 Oct 1762, NS proved 4 April 1763 at Gloucester, R.I. In it he names his son James as executor, mentions his wife Susanna, his sons Joshua, James, David, and Jonathan, and his daughters Jerusha Sprague, Susannah Williams, and his grandchildren Mercy, Jerusha, and Eliphalet Eddy. His inventory amounted to £1,678 15s, He died 15 Apr 1763. He was married 1 to Phebe Ballou, daughter of Peter and Barbara Ballou, and m 2 to Susanna ___ who survived him. Children: Phebe m. Eliphalet Eddy on 10 Nov 1737; Jerusha m. Samuel Sprague. by second wife, James, Joshua, David, Jonathan, Susanna m. --- WIlliams (Goliah written in ).
I James King of Glocester in the County of Providence yeoman Being week of Body but of Perfect mind and mmory therefore calling to mind the mortality of my Body and Knowing it is Appointed for all men borne to Die I do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament Firstly I Recommend my Body to the Earth to be Buried in decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Exedutor ---------------------------------
Then I Guie and Bequeath unto my well Beloved Wife Susannah King one Feather bed with all the Beding therefore and all other my houaws goods Excepting the Rest if nt Beds. Also I Guie my said Wife my Riding Beast two Cows and Six Sheep together with a Priviledge of Keeping one Cow and Six Sheep During her Natural Life Also the Priviledge of the Best Room in my house During Life as afore Said Like wise I Guie her my Bible -----
Item I Guie and Bequeath unto my Beloved Son Joshua King the Sum of Five pounds in money according to the old Tenor to be paid by my Executors, Said Son Joshua Having Received his portion Before I do not Guie him no more Now ---
Item I Guie my Beloved Son James King Jun: whom I Likewise Constitute ordain and make my Sole Executor of this my Last Will & Testament all my homestead farm and Right in Common Land to heirs and Asigns forever also I Guie unto my Said Son James all my Cattle Goats and all other my Creaters – Except those above mentioned to geather with all my Book, Bond, and Notes for money, and all my Book Debts dues and Demand, whatsoever Also all the money that may be by me at my Decease and that my Said Executor pay ot of my Estate all my Just Debts, Dues Whatsoever Likewse I Guie unto my Said Son James all my Husbandry Tool my Barpenter tools and all other my tools whatsoever; it is also my will that my Said Son James have the Care of and maintain Comfortably my Son Godson David King During his Natural Life out of my Estate ------

Item I Guie and Bequeath to my Three Grand Children Mercy Eddy Joshua Eddy and Eliphalet Eddy Jun to Each of them the Sum of Ten Shillings a piece in money according to the old Tenor ----
Item I Guie and Bequeath to my Beloved Daughter Jerusha Sprague the Sum of Twenty five pound, in money according to the old Tenor to be paid to her in money after the proving this will ---
Item I Guie and Bequeath unto my Beloved Daughter Susannah Williams the sum of twentyfive pounds according to old Tenor to be paid to her in one year after the proving this will -------
(Unreadable) that my Executor aforementioned have all my corn and hay Excepting twelve Bushels of Corn for my Said Wife at the time of my Decease Likewise it is my will that my S. wife be allowed and that my Said Executor allow to her twelve Bushels of corn yearly and Every year During her Natural Life Also Ten pound. Of flax annually and I do hereby utterly Disallow Revoke and Dsannul all other former Testaments wills Legacies and Bequesths whatsoever By me Before made Ratifying and Confirming this and Noother to by my Last Will and Testament in Witness where of I the Said James King have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the Fifteenth Day of October and in the 2nd: year of his majesties Reign George the third of Great Britain Occ King A: 1762 -----
