Samuel Hills was born in Malden, 16 December 1669. He was the seventh of eight children of Joseph Hills Jr. (1629-1674) and Hannah Smith Hills (about 1633 - 1674). His father and mother both died when he was five years old, so he may have been raised by his grandfather, Joseph Hills, Sr. Samuel married Sarah about 1694. Her maiden name is unknown because no actual marriage record has been found. The marriage date is estimated from the birth of the first child. Her given name is established by the birth records of her children (i.e. Malden Births p. 41 - 103 Hills, Samuel, s of Samuel and Sarah, July 16, [1692 or 1702]).

The family lived in Malden till about 1703, when they moved to Dorchester. Samuel died in Dorchester, 7 January 1704.3
Sarah apparently remarried, because she is said to have been the wife of a Mr. Ferrer or Farrar of Dorchester in 1718.
